Done and done...but honestly, I dont know if I'll be able to stay on top of this all season. Im pretty sure this is the first year in almost 10 I wont be joining the same $100 buy in/16 team Yahoo Fantasy head to head league due to my life being so hectic now and for the foreseeable future.

This league is easier to manage with not having to set lines daily though, no doubt

Hopefully they're going hard on the face-off calls in the preseason to show players that they're cracking down, but ultimately loosen up a bit when the draws are more in line.

My two main concerns are:

1. Will guys like Crosby, Bergeron and Toews be called the same way a 4th line C is?
History has shown that star players receive a little more leniency and breaks.

2. Will C be trying to draw guys into penalties by flinching and subtle movements? Seems very likely.

Here’s the deal. The preseason does not matter in the slightest bit. One of the few things that can get accomplished during this time is the referees introducing their new standard of calling penalties. It’s going to be a mess at first. It might even be tough to watch. Again, it’s the preseason so who cares. Players will learn and adapt.

Yes, I'm sure that 3 weeks and 3-4 games will be enough to make players change the way they've been playing for the last 18-30+ years. I mean, it worked so well in the "new" NHL in 05/06, as RW stated.

Edit: I, for one, am not down for a half/full season of 10+ PPs per team per game.

Yeah it is definitely easier than the daily ones. I like that I can just do it on monday and forget, and honestly, I've forgotten to set my roster a few weeks before. If you're on HB every day, it shouldn't be too difficult to set your lineups. I do it on mobile all the time too.

I might finally agree with you on something... Call the damn penalties... Make the game fun again. PPs are fun and stop rewarding average teams with the ability to slow the game down.

This fantasy format is super cool. Never played anything like it. I considered getting a season pass for all of two seconds just to because I love playing in money leagues, but then I remembered I'd have to wear that badge of shame next to my name for the whole year

Honestly, nothing slows the game down more than PPs. During a PP, 5 (or 4) players on the PP stay fairly stationary, passing around the perimeter. The opposing 4 (or 3) players play a passive game where, as soon as they get it, they attempt to throw it down the ice 9 times out of 10. That is not fun and exciting, to me.

Anyone who thinks that these players won't adapt in time is absolutely crazy. The players will adapt just as they do in other sports and the game will smooth over and evolve

Yes, they will adapt...over a period of several months, not days.

These guys are hard-wired to play the game a certain way. They've been playing that way for decades. Expecting them to instantaneously change that is a pipedream.

I don't agree often with a leafs fan but the face off penalties are just ridiculous!
I really hope they go away in the regular season as it is a complete joke!

I agree and I really think it was a big factor in there being so many more penalties called the first few years after the lockout/rule changes and not just the league wanting whistles put away. Guys had been playing their whole life a certain way and then all of a sudden had to change.

It can be done on mobile? Excellent.

I did my team quickly and still had 600k in space. Can you go back and edit before deadline?

So there isnt any TV feeds to watch this tonight at all??

Only 3 definite opening night roster players playing but its not about that for me. I want to see all the really young guys in action. A lot of whom Ive never seen before.

I am not sure what the trouble is. A Penalty is a penalty regardless of how minor it is. I dont like how they let most things go. Slashes and crosschecks are unacceptable and the fact they let stuff go is why things tend to escalate.

Its a depressed area. I would not live near there. The drive to Morgantown would be easy minus some snow days. The drive to Pitt would get old fast. Not much to do there other than drink.

Games played on constant PP would be brutal to watch. Playoff hockey is great due to the up and down action.

RW likes globe trotter hockey where nobody can get hurt.

More to last thread's conversation, but Wilson is on Malkin and Kessel's line today. Looks lime he's getting a chance to start the year where he ended. Really open competition with him, Rust, and Hagelin, none of whom are really a top 6 guy.
